Playing against the clock

The Players' Club hosts Shotgun Theater every semester. The 48-hour event began on Thursday, October 25, when seven directors selected a number from a bowl, determining how many actors they'd have to write a script for.

Directors selected another piece of paper with a theme, or concept, that their script had to incorporate. With 24 hours to spare before show time, the actors had to memorize their lines. Each director was allowed to check out five props from the theater department's prop shop, and had only 20 minutes to meet with the tech and lighting staff.

On Saturday night, Studio Theater in the Creative Arts building was flooded with spectators. The seven groups performed their 10-minute scenes, concluded by all the actors and directors gathering on stage to take a bow.
