When Pablo Enrrique Davila and his band practice metal music, the walls of the small-practice room resonance with the fast, melodic guitar playing accompanied by heavy low based riffs and complimented by the screams and loud lyrics of the vocalist.

For many non-listeners of metal, the music is seen as disturbing and evil worship genre of music.

“Yes, there are a lot different types of weird stuff that people sing about, but the way I look at it is like a horror movie. You know watching a horror movie,” said Johann Zavaleta, 28 and guitarist of their metal band Chronic Narcosis.

Besides their love for the music, metal enthusiast are also everyday people who work, study and live their own life style.

“How I dress on stage is mostly how I dress like everyday, except when I have to work, so if you see me at school I’ll probable be wearing what I wear at stage, “ Zavaleta said.

According to Zavaleta, wearing ripped jeans and ripped shirts is something he shouldn’t hide from people because it is his style.

While Zavaleta’s band already plays at some places, Davila’s band is beginning to take form with a variety of styles and textures.

“In metal music, is basically no rules, it could be loud, it could be powerful, and you can really give it whatever message you want.” Enrrique said.

Davila’s intention is to come up with a little different style of heavy metal by adding longer melodies to avoid repetitions.

“Playing heavy metal in the 2000 era is kind of hard. It was very popular in the mid 80’s and early 90’s, but their is a core of people that still like it,” Zavaleta said.
