The room echoed "Oooohs" and "Aaahhs" as surf enthusiasts cheered on wave riders in the Bobby Martinez Mixed Tape showed during SF State's very first Surf Film Night, organized by the Aqua Surf Shop and ASI.

"That was so awesome especially when they're in the barrel that part always gets me," said 18 year old freshman Magan Biggs.

Surf Film Night featured two films, Day of the Towbro, which was produced by Aleks Pektrovitch, owner of both SF Aqua Surf Shops and the Bobby Martinez Mixed Tape.

"Day of the Towbro was just my way of personalizing the film and adding something like the zombie just makes it more fun to watch," Petrovitch said.

The second film was a mixtape that highlighted the many achievements of Bobby Martinez, a Santa Barbara surfer who is slowly making his way to legendary status.

"This was a totally sweet event and it was something different. Plus Igot some free stuff," said Jessica Aquino, a dietetics major.

Stickers, calenders, key chains and t-shirts provided by Reef, the primary sponsor of Surf Film Night, were free to take. An Aqua Surf Shop employee ended the night by calling out t-shirt and sandal sizes and tossed the left over goodies in the air for audience members to grab.

The Aqua Surf shop has two locations in SF. For further information please visit the official Web site.
