Hip-hop. How can one define it? Whether it is characterized by rap music, graffiti art, or break dancing, it’s up to the individual or group to decide what hip-hop means to them. “Hip-hop has a culture, whether it’s dancing, singing, rapping or the attire you’re wearing, it still has a theme, an African theme in addition to an indigenous theme,” said Coby Obiesie, a Black Student Union coordinator at SF State.
