Inside City Hall: Water way to go

A resolution set to go before the Board of Supervisors in the coming weeks would require all San Francisco residents to install water-saving toilets, showerheads and faucets before they sold their home. The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission offers rebates for people wanting to buy water-saving toilets, and even gives out efficient showerheads and faucets. The resolution estimates that it will save 10 million gallons of water a day. The city has already made strides in reducing water consumption, but currently uses 84 million gallons of water per day, according to the SFPUC.

Gun No-Show

A bill was reintroduced this week that would ban the annual gun show from taking place at the Cow Palace. The May 2-3 show has been held at the Cow Palace for 25 years. Criticism has swelled up over the past decade. The surrounding residential area accounts for 44 percent of homicides in San Francisco county and local residents blame the gun show for putting the weapons into the streets. The Board of Supervisors has passed resolutions in the past asking legislature to ban the gun show, despite the shows operators insistence that they follow all state laws regarding the purchasing of firearms.
