My thanks to Ian Thomas for exposing how The Village has been shortchanging residents. But unlike the students mentioned who only received a portion of their security deposit back, I did not receive my deposit from last semester at all. I moved into The Village last spring and have yet to collect my $250 deposit. I called over the summer and was told the deposit would roll over into this year's fees, but I was dismayed when I discovered that my roommate and other residents received checks in the mail while I did not. I went over to the Housing Office and was told they weren't sure what happened, but would call me back with more information. They also told me to contact EAH, the former owner of the Village. Neither SF State housing nor EAH returned my calls. So now I am basically screwed out of $250, without any proper explanation.
