We were disheartened after reading the column in the X press entitled “Childish Protestors.” Despite public outrage directed at the protesters, the column still found room to criticize the memorial’s organizers. Our reactions to the protesters desecrating the American flag with a swastika were deemed “arrogant posturing.” The author was brazen enough to assert that our outrage was disingenuous, and nothing more than posing for the Fox News channel, an absurd analysis of our actions. Also unnerving was the author’s belief that the opinions of Campus Republicans and Democrats are “unwanted and unrelated.” The author, a former employee of Senator Feinstein, then singled out the Republicans with vicious personal attacks. The editorial illustrated a left leaning paper becoming desperate to discredit the conservative movement on campus. It’s a sad day when our newspaper publishes editorials that feature lies and character assassination, and read more like the National Enquirer than a legitimate academic opinion. - College Republicans at SF State The original article "Childish protesters cheapen legitimate beliefs"
