O.J.'s sting op is not a joke

We’ve all heard of him, we all remember the charges put against him for one of the most horrible crimes in America’s history, and most of all we remember the trial. Orenthal James Simpson, the man notoriously known to America as simply O.J., has managed to get arrested and this time Johnnie Cochran won’t be able to apply the “glove analogy” to the crime.

According to the Associated Press, Simpson's alleged hotel room heist involved a group of men with little in common, save for an interest in an infamous former football star and, in some cases, a penchant for running afoul of the law.

Simpson and his five co-defendants are accused of holding memorabilia dealers Bruce Fromong and Alfred Beardsley at gunpoint on September 13 in a hotel room and taking autographed footballs and other collectibles. Simpson claims some of the items belonged to him and he was retrieving them.

The defendants are charged with felony armed robbery, kidnapping and other charges that could bring life sentences. After Simpson’s near escape from a life sentence for murdering his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ronald Goldman in 1994, one would think that Simpson would try his best to keep to himself and stay out of jail.

It seems apparent that Simpson is not only fighting the law, but perhaps with early senility, as shown by his extreme, senseless acts. Within the past five years, Simpson has come out with his own comedy show where he tried to sell the Bronco that was shot by police; after he tried to run away when he found out he was being charged for the murders of Brown and Goldman. Simpson has also recently come out with a book titled “If I Did It.” According to Pablo Fenjves, the ghostwriter for "If I Did It," Simpson wanted to confess hypothetically.

Simpson’s actions are ridiculous, it would be in his best interest to quit trying to show America that he could be a funny guy, or try to get sports memorabilia that may or might not rightfully be his. What it comes down to is that America has been trying to get O.J. booked on a life sentence since he was acquitted of all charges in 1994, and they finally may have him where they want him.

Since the murder trial over a decade ago, there are still people in America who believe Simpson did commit the murders as well as those who don't. However, there are more than enough people who believe that he did, which could have a very negative effect on Simpson if he is involved with the police and courts. Simpson's right to a fair trial might not be so fair this time, because many people believe that he did not have a fair trial to begin with. This may be the time when the jury of his peers gets their revenge through the court system.

According to Agence-France Press, a global news agency, since Simpson's arrest in September three associates initially accused of involvement in the case have agreed to testify against Simpson. Fromong testified on November 8,2007 that the disgraced sports star played a lead role in the alleged heist. The hearing will determine whether Simpson stands trial on robbery and kidnapping charges.

No matter how hard he tries, he’ll always be known for that infamous murder trial, which will always allow anything he does to be scrutinized by the media. Therefore, Simpson and his bright ideas should be dimmed down or remain ideas completely in the dark, because there is no hope for Simpson to ever be seen as a lovable or sensible man.
