As one of the few student voices at SF State, [X]press has always prided itself on expressing the concern of students to the leadership of this campus.
During our continual quest to provide accurate and informative news to the SF State community we have hit a roadblock—until recently.
It has been years since President Robert A. Corrigan and [X]press reporters have had consistent contact.
We don’t need to go into too much detail about what got us to that point. What we would like to highlight is the steps President Corrigan has taken toward [X]press over the past few weeks. He met with editors, answered questions on various topics and came to our publication class on Wednesday.
We are thankful for his openness and hope to continue this relationship to better serve the SF State community. During our conversations with President Corrigan, he expressed his concern about the financial state of the campus and the CSU system—it’s the worst he’s seen in 15 years.
Fees are likely to go up again—much to President Corrigan’s dismay—and cuts will inevitably be made.
We are grateful for the president’s time and genuine concern for the students at SF State.
Our hope is to remain a reliable source of information to this community by reaching out to all facets of this campus, including the administration.
Thanks again, President Corrigan for opening the door for us
Corrigan came to (1) meeting of ours too, and has ignored our input. Value engineer the masterplan, redevelop within SFSU original boundaries, and build affordable housing on campus, not south of holloway on Parkmerced property purchased. Cut his salary a bit too, with the regents and some ethnic studies may be funded correctly, and not have overstuffed classes and decrepit dorms.
