Mayor Gavin Newsom dropped the baton with his handling of the Olympic torch.
Now he has a chance to make things better by fixing the very broken emergency response system.
The city wants emergency services to arrive at the scene of an emergency within six and a half minutes.
It has been reported that it currently takes twice as long for help to arrive.
It’s good to see that Newsom is aware of this problem and wants to fix it.
Of course, he has his political career to think about nowadays.
Since he cannot be re-elected to the Mayor’s office, he’s most likely focused on elevation to the California State Senate and maybe, gosh, even the U.S. Senate.
With that in mind, of course he’s taking this problem head on.
Newsom does not want to be the mayor known for letting his citizens die while waiting for an ambulance to arrive. That’s just silly.
This is a real problem that needs attention.
So far Newsom has said that he wants the emergency centers to be fully staffed.
It’s legacy time for Newsom.
We’ll find out. Stay tuned, everyone. Let’s see if Newsom can save this city while securing his place in history.
