As the semester comes to an end, the ever-turning revolving door lets graduating students out and brings a fresh wave of them in.
With ever-changing faces around the school, the only real constant is the school itself. But the school’s appearance will not be the same forever.
The SF State Master Plan will drastically alter the look of our campus in years to come.
We won’t get to see it. It’ll be done years down the road. This plan is great for our campus.
The plan is to increase enrollment by 25,000 students by 2020, as well as adding new buildings, including a new creative arts complex, a new gym and a university conference center.
This plan will do wonders for the campus.
Imagine a brand new HSS building that does not feel like a strong wind could knock it down.
Of course there has been opposition to the plan. A community group from Park Merced has been very vocal against it.
They feel the plan will encroach on Park Merced property and alter the way Park Merced looks.
One other snag in the process has involved the building at 700 Font Blvd. SF State wanted that land to build a new clinical science building, but the San Francisco Unified School District sold the property last November to another group.
Even with these bumps in the road, the Master Plan is working to improve our campus and make it a state-of-the-art school for our students.
SF State has always been progressive and the Master Plan is a way to renovate and breath fresh life into the campus.
Our campus will be a great place to go to school, even better than it is now.
