I’m scared! The election is less than two weeks away, and a ton of people still haven’t heard about Proposition 4, the parental notification initiative.

Prop. 4 is a dangerous initiative! It is deceptive, uses fear tactics, and hurts our most vulnerable populations. This is the third time in four years that we will be voting on this dangerous initiative.

California voters have already rejected this initiative twice! And the men who are funding this bill are just using their money to misuse the political system and push their own political agenda- to outlaw abortion. And they are using teens, scared and vulnerable teens, to achieve their goal.

If the true goal is to reduce unwanted teen pregnancy and abortion, we know what works—comprehensive, medically accurate sexuality education and access to care!

Prop. 4 would punish scared pregnant teens, requiring them to navigate the court system or take matters into their own hands! A scared teen doesn’t need a judge, she needs a counselor and access to appropriate medical care!

We have an obligation to speak for those who do not have a voice.

As SF State students and California’s youngest (and brightest) voters, we MUST take a stand for our most vulnerable teens and defeat Prop. 4!

We have the opportunity to be real agents of change, and a hero for someone! This election may very well be one of the biggest elections in our lifetime. So please join me and Vote NO on Prop. 4!
