Fellow students,

As we return to SF State this semester, many of us are dealing with the fallout of the shake-ups of 2008: further slashes to the CSU budget and delayed graduation. On top of all this, we have to figure out just what to do with our degrees once we get out of here, thanks to the economy's trip into the toilet and the seemingly shrinking job market.

I say it's all about perspective. In Hindu culture, the god Shiva destroys... but by doing so, clears the way for rebirth. This is a chance for us to recreate the model in our respective industries. Don't miss out on it. The old business models are dying - be unafraid of pursuing your own ideas. It is our time to recreate the working world.

Here at [X]Press, we've been taking a hard look at who we are and how we cover and package a newspaper meant for college students. We've added a new page, The City, detailing more about life off campus. Also, the Opinion page is now accepting student submissions. You can send in 250-word short stories, opinions, or even poetry. Our Web site, xpress.sfsu.edu, is now updated daily to better suit students' lifestyles.

Change must be one of the most overused words of 2008, but it is truly something we aim for in 2009. Let us know what is important to you. As a campus publication, [X]Press should tell your stories. We certainly intend to.
