Gloria R. Davis is a Hunter's Point preparatory school that houses artists of varying talents, backgrounds, and perspectives from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. five days a week. Some draw, take photographs, or socialize to dull their anxieties about teenage life. No one would guess that when the bell for lunch rings at 12:17 p.m. and roudy teenagers take to the basketball courts they're not just planning on shooting hoops. Many plan on writing about a shooting in their neighborhood or the shooting up of a local drug fiend; all victims they may know or fear becoming.
