Getting a grip on life

Jeff DeVera, 23, and Randy DeVera, 26, were both born with ectrodactyly. The brothers live together in Vallejo and work at MobiTV in Emeryville. They commute together, to and from work, five days a week. Their cubicles are about six feet apart, and in their spare time at work, they play ping pong with their coworkers and boss.

“Our coworker brought the table from home. We’ve been playing for about two months, and it’s pretty competitive,” Randy said. He joked that they play ping pong during their breaks and lunch, and often stay late after work.

Randy and Jeff both graduated from SF State. Randy graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor’s degree in Design and Industry, and Jeff graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.

Ectrodactyly affects approximately 1 in every 18,000 newborns, according to the Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences.
