There is a new community that has been built in Pleasant Hill, California. This community is not the typical subdivision housing neighborhood -- it's called cohousing. According to the Cohousing Association of the United States, cohousing is a type of collaborative housing in which residents actively participate in the design and operation of their own neighborhoods. In the Pleasant Hill cohousing community there are over 30 houses and a large common area for everyone to gather in. They typically have several meals a week together and are very involved in each others lives, while still not crossing lines of privacy. This new cohousing community features a large common house that includes a children's room, kitchen, and living room, where everyone in the community can gather. While this cohousing community is available for anyone, it has become an inviting place for LGBT people to gather and live together. Click link on the right to view multimedia...

Dear all, to get a view from within cohousing, watch the documentary "Voices of Cohousing. Rebuilding villages in the city", award winner at the 34th Ekotopfilm festival 2007 and nominated at 9th Gold Panda Awards. For trailer and info: http://notsocrazy.net. Enjoy!
