Get Hot with Frederic

Lead singer and guitarist Eric Frederic of San Francisco rock trio Facing New York is making his rounds, promoting the release of the group’s new album Get Hot. The record, which hit music store shelves October 14, offers listeners a fusion of indie, progressive, and classic rock mixed with a dose of synthesized funk. The album draws from Frederic’s side project Wallpaper, which has quite possibly become more popular than Facing New York itself. The robotic mix of phased vocals, synthesizers and drumbeats that is Wallpaper bagged Frederic the Best Electronic Act of 2008 award from SF Weekly. With songs like Text Me Your Love and T Rex, Frederic’s side project has developed a noticeable following in San Francisco.

But Frederic’s main project is a definite return to rock and roll roots. With its gritty, visceral lyrics and heavy riffs blowing through dynamic pauses of silence, the album takes off in the vein of the White Stripes. Eric Frederic, bassist Brandon Canchola, and drummer Omar Cuellar will be laying down riff-laden rock songs in venues throughout San Francisco in the coming months. Also look for the new Wallpaper album, which will be emerging at any moment.
