It has been said countless times that happiness does not come from money, but from enjoyments in life. Television shows and films express that ideology so much that it has turned into a cliché. Although it might seem to be true, it really is not. No one knows this reality more than college students. Every semester money is spent on books, tuition, rent, and food. Having a job may barely make ends meet and security is far away when all the bills are due.
"Parents need to talk to their students about finance just like they give them the sex talk," said Michael Yakolev, 23, a Wells Fargo employee.
Yakolev admits to lacking financial skills as a freshman that now seem to be an essential part of his life. He has been working at a bank for the past year and feels more confident about his budgeting skills.
Here are ways that can raise your bank account balance without even leaving home (unless you want to get away from your roommate).
1. Shutterstock.com
Every time a trip is taken, at least one picture is so good that it earns profile photo or framing status. But while these gains are limited to comments, shutterstock yields income. Submitting photos at Shutterstock.com earns you twenty-five cents every time your photo is downloaded. The website collects stock photographs and pays for every download. You can earn well over one hundred dollars for enough hits.
2. Barefootstudent.com
With all the homework assignments students have, going through the process of filling out applications and attending interviews does not always work out. At barefootstudent.com, you can post a resume for a variety of positions, such as house sitting and moving labor. This makes employment more likely because employers go directly to hire students for cheap rather than other sites, where resumes risk getting lost in the shuffle.
3. Bookjingle.com
Most students have tons of books lying around that were read once and now are out of use. Often they are textbooks that remind you of each semester and that will probably never be opened again. So if the bookstore is not providing fair prices, log on to bookjingle.com. At this site, offers on books can be made. Bookjingle also offers free shipping, if you decides to accept it. Later, fees are dispensed through PayPal, and just like that extra cash is earned rather than dustier books.
4. Yellowsurveys.com
Instead of taking Sex and the City Facebook surveys, take paying surveys. At yellowsurveys.com, you can search for surveys being offered by companies that pay because they need public opinions for market research.
5.Studentoffortune.com
For people who are great at math, tutoring is a source of income. Studentoffortune.com allows you to join and upload tutoring sheets and it provides help to other students on a variety of subjects. Most of the fees tutors charge on the site range higher than five dollars. Yet because it is so cheap compared to real-world tutoring, more people are likely to pay up. Earn more than an A in class; earn cash!
6.Ebay.com
Everybody knows that at Ebay.com you can sell almost anything. There is always somebody out there who is interested in your product even if it might seem worthless. The thing about Ebay.com that gives it such an edge is that it provides a world market that makes garage sale days look amateurish.
7. Findfocusgroups.com
Being part of a focus group is a way to get firsthand views of new products before they reach the public. Check out the site findfocusgroups.com and seek a group meeting in specific areas. There are a variety to sign up for that match multiple aspects of life, such as calls for students or renters. [X]
