Student Death on 19th Ave

Sandy Kim, a 21-year-old junior at SF State, was killed when she was struck by a vehicle on the sidewalk at the intersection of 19th Avenue and Sloat Boulevard Tuesday afternoon. The accident took place shortly after 2 p.m., when a sedan turning left onto 19th from Sloat struck an SUV traveling west on Sloat. The SUV spun into the sidewalk in front of Stern Grove, hitting Kim and two other pedestrians. 19th Avenue was closed to traffic until approximately 5 p.m., shutting down one of the busiest arteries in the city.
