The SF State men's soccer team labored to a win and a loss in Washington state this weekend, returning home with a 3-1 start to the 2007 season.
Sophomore Dylan Glass scored his third and fourth goals of the season, connecting twice with fellow sophomore Wes Whitt in a 2-1 come-from-behind win at Western Washington University Monday.
Washington opened scoring in the 23rd minute through Michael Ricci, who finished Gibson Bardsley's assist from five yards out.
But the Gators equalized in the second half when Glass drove home Whitt's corner kick in the 69th minute. The sophomoric duo then created the winner when Whitt again assisted Glass three minutes later.
SF State junior goalkeeper Israel Cisneros recorded five saves in a game that saw Washington out-shoot its visitors 15-13.
Two days prior to the win, the Gators suffered their first loss of the season when nationally ranked Seattle Pacific University edged them 1-0.
SPU's James Coggan scored the lone goal from four yards out after Gator goalkeeper Ezra Mendoza had saved a shot from Jeff Hallenbeck in the 10th minute.
The good run of form so far this season means SF State enters its conference play, beginning this Friday in Turlock, Calif. against Ca State Stanislaus, with a winning record.
