Tonight (Saturday, 8 Nov.) there was a full lunar eclipse, but only its last phase was visible in the Bay Area. I grabbed this photo at 6:39 p.m. when the clouds kindly parted long enough for me to jump out and snap.
Space.com has a really good guide to watching the eclipse as well as additional information on the process.
I called the [X]press photo editor and also a staff photographer (in LA!), so maybe they got a better shot than I did. I hope you had a chance to see it.
