Day two... it was aaight.
Today we received our story topics and got straight to business. I was assigned to write a story on the McCullum Youth Court in Oakland. There was no room for games because we had people to call and people to interview. I made some calls to a few people who worked there and one lady told me that it was ok to come in and interview her about what the program is all about.
After that we went to city hall to do interviews, take pictures and record the things that people said. At first I wasn't to comfortable with interviewing gay people but I knew I had to have an open mind and in order to do what I had to do.
It was really crazy seeing all those people up there standing in line waiting to get married. I had no idea that it was going to be this many people desparately trying to get married. I was shock by the amount of people that showed up. When i was interviewing this one gay couple a lady came from behind me and threw bird seeds all over me. I got real upset but I just held my composure instead of going off and cussing her out. I had a really good time taking pictures because I felt like a real photographer for a moment.
After we left city hall we took group pictures then got on the Muni train back to San Francisco State. When we got back we had dinner then came back to the classroom to go to the workshop with Zoneil who talked about pop culture and how it relates to journalism. After the workshop we finally had a chance to go back to our dorms and sleep.
