Happy Birthday to ME!!
Today or should I say yesterday was my birthday but it all started like usual. I woke up tired from sleeping in a harsh bed to receive an early phone call from my best friend Nicole. She had told me the night before that she would call me at the time she wakes up for school. So at six o’clock in the morning she called. I had forgotten that it was my birthday for a moment. Then my roomy CC said “Happy Birthday!” When I went on to the bathroom Goldie saw me and also said “Happy Birthday!”
The routine of everyday BAMMA still went on. From rehearsals for BAMMA idol to disgusting powder eggs.
Morning came as usual to me. There was nothing special I was still frustrated that all sources for elections had not many organizations for the youth. I was searching hard. My editor helped me find an organizations and I call and got an e-mail address of someone who could help me out. I was about to start the e-mail when in the distance I could hear a familiar song. “Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday…” I turn around to see most of the BAMMA staff with a cake walking in slowly. I was so surprise because no one has ever surprise me on my birthday. I have to say they did a great job on the surprising me. I blew out the candles and gave cake.
Later many people left on assignment. I joked around with Justin saying I felt so lonely on my birthday. Later on I was busy searching about McCain and Obama and heard my name. It turned out I was chosen to help Edgar out taking pictures, audio, and video. I was surprise at the moment. We went to the Tenderloin area and looked around. I was taking pictures of the people. One picture I took was of a line of homeless people waiting for help. I heard them screaming if I had a permit for that. I just ignored and in one of them came a short homeless lady asking for a permit. Ryan our leader for the day explain about the how in public there is no permit required unless we are taking private pictures. We also ate Vietnamese food. I was so happy to be eating perfectly salted food! Finally something delicious!
Finally when we got home we were walking to the girls side. I was behind all the girls and just hear a bunch of “Oh My Gosh!!” It turns out my mom and little sister had left me flowers on my dorm room door. I called to thank them and started crying when I heard my grandma had come today just to wish me a happy birthday! She sang “Las Mañanitas” for me, which is like a happy birthday song in Spanish. I also heard my sister singing ”Happy birthday to you, you live in a zoo you look like monkey and you smell like one too!””
