MY FIRST STORY DAY
Yesterday was a very LONG day. Basically, I spent like literally six hours trying to get some contact information on sources that are able to give me connection with athletes in training for the 2012 Olympics. After reading the newspaper in the morning, I began my mission/adventure on finding useful resources to get in contact with. YAYY..
At first, I had high hopes in which I thought that it would be extremely easy to get contact info on future athletes, however, the reality was totally opposite from what I thought. During the morning, I called the contact person that my editor gave me. And from there on, I tried researching other athletes online. Gosh, I felt like I was stalking people because I not only e-mailed organizations, but I also asked them to give me personal information of athletes, such as the athlete's numbers and e-mails. Oh well, I guess that's what being a journalist is... LOL!
While waiting for Kristin from the BASCO program to return my call, I did tons and tons of research by trying to hunt down athletes and coaches. I called many random training facilities from different areas and none of them returned my calls. I got telephone numbers from universities such as Berkeley and Stanford and the coach from Berkeley returned my e-mail but unfortunately said that he was out till next week... that was no help; and, the coach from Stanford didn't e-mail me back. In addition, I also did various other e-mails which I sent out e-mails to those people, but they didn't really respond or the sources were no use. Later doing the day, Kristin finally called me back. But, OHHH $@&%! The program that Kristin is involved in did not do any help to my story!
After feeling like none of the people from the contact list wanted to talk to me, I finally got a Judo facility in San Bruno and made an interview appointment for today to talk to Judo athletes training to be in the 2012 Olympics.!!! YAYY IM SOO EXCITED!!
YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY :]
