Student Workers Getting Short-Changed

Students who choose to work on campus lose the benefit of earning a higher minimum wage rate due to an exemption from the citys Minimum Wage Ordinance. According to Richard Waller, the supervising compliance officer for the Office of Labor Standards Enforcement, because SF State is a state agency, the MWO does not apply to the college and therefore, they dont have to follow the state minimum wage laws.

Student Food Options Alter Eating Habits
If eating fresh means eating at Subway or other SF State dining facilities that are open later than 7 p.m., then some on-campus residents would rather not eat at all. The City Eats Dining Center is the main eatery for the freshmen that live in Mary Park and Mary Ward halls. Some students said they don't finish class until the dining center's doors are closed and they skip dinner because their options are limited.

Campus Dishes Criticism on Spinach Talk

Within the last week 157 people in 23 different states have fallen victim to a strain of E. Coli bacteria found in certain bagged spinach, ultimately resulting in one death. Many supermarkets are recalling pre-packaged spinach and some restaurants are even refusing to use spinach in their dishes. Students at SF State share their stories of how the spinach scare has affected their daily lives.

SF State Quad Going to the Dogs

Students are finding San Francisco State to be a very pet friendly campus. A sign posted in front of the school asks only that dogs be on a leash and under control at all times, yet at times, dogs can be seen playing freely on the grass in the quad.
