Fifteen SF State student organizations hosted the second CultureFest on Thursday, a celebration of a cultural diversity and one of the key events of the International Education Week. The event took place along with the Office of International Programs in Malcolm X Plaza.

Database for Hedgehog Signal Pathway Research Created

SF State’s biology and computer science departments have worked together to create one of the most popular Internet databases for Hedgehog Signal Pathway research.
The SF State Ramirez-Weber Lab gathers and does research to create an easy to use and free database which covers all aspects of the Hedgehog Signal Pathway, Hh.

The Producton That's Making Magic

There's something truly magical about SF State’s production of "The Magic Flute," a comedic and heart-wrenching opera written by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Emanuel Schikaneder that portrays an instinctual battle between the forces of good and evil among beings in visual and audio form.

With the lights fixed down on him, Kawabata played his favorite piece, Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue, BWV 903,” before an audience in Knuth Hall on April 13.

Young Music Label Appeals to Minority

With an unyielding passion for music, Del Bene, 24, decided in the beginning of January 2004 to launch his own independent music label titled, “Loud Minority Music,” a name that he says represents the fact that he’s not trying to appeal to the majority which makes the label a minority.

"Poeta Pan" Celebrates Chilean Poet

“Poeta Pan,” a live performance featuring drama, dance, music and shadow theater, will take over the Little Theatre March 10-12. Presented in Spanish, with optional English translation, the performance is dedicated to the memory and work of Pablo Neruda, a highly influential Chilean poet.

Students Protest Military Recruiters on Campus

U.S. military recruiters left a campus career fair an hour early on March 9 after extensive student demonstrations for and against military recruitment. Shuttle Death Leads to Seat Belt Concerns for SF State Riders

An estimated 3,000 SF State students ride the free shuttle to and from Daly city BART every day. The seatbelt-less shuttles are similar to to one that 57-year-old Lynne de Matties was ejected from last Feb. 11, killing her instantly.

Communication Key to Checking HIV/AIDS
Most SF State students are uncomfortable with openly talking about sex with their partners, leaving them vulnerable to becoming additional statistics to the HIV/AIDS pandemic. While they agree that sex is stimulating and stress relieving, students often fail to engage in the responsibility of communication and protection.
