HIV/AIDS and Sports

Since the arrival of the virus, the sporting world and HIV/AIDS have no experiences of a head-to-head bout that resulted in an athlete contracting the virus. Although there are several well known athletes that have been stricken with the disease outside of their sport.

Walkout for Akom

A diverse group of about 300 students and faculty from the College of Ethnic Studies stood in solemn solidarity outside the Ethnic Studies- Psychology building at noon yesterday in support of Africana studies professor Antwi Akom, a week after criminal charges were dropped.

The independent investigation into the arrest of SF State professor Antwi Akom has concluded that it was the behavior of the professor and not his race that led to the ensuing conflict between the three officers involved in the incident.

The Kitchen Revealed: Vista Room offers fine dining on campus

The Vista Room is a lab that was created for students working towards a hospitality management or consumer family studies/dietetics degree. By simulating a real restaurant setting, students get hands-on experience and gain knowledge for future careers in the restaurant and food management industry.

Energy Drinks More Dangerous than Efficient

Red Bull and RockStar energy drinks are some of the most popular drinks on SF State’s campus. They are among the top three selling drinks at campus convenience stores. Red Bull outsells Classic Coke by nearly twice as many units per week, and Coke barely beats out RockStar for second place.

High Expectations Await Wrestling Gators

The one word that will define this years Gator's wrestling team: Expectations. With a returning national champion in Pacifico Garcia and a lineup full of transfers and upperclassman with college wrestling experience, Gator's coach, Lars Jensen, said this years team is one of the top five teams, potential wise, he's ever coached.
