City Holds Second Annual Outreach Event
SF State nursing students were among the hundreds of volunteers working at the Project Homeless Connect’s second annual one-day outreach event on Dec. 7.
About 28 students and three instructors saw a steady stream of patients during the eight hours they were there. As part of the public health nursing class, students performed various tests and duties.

Gators Have New Way to Zip Around Bay

The Gator community has one more transportation option with the recent introduction of a car-sharing program on campus, providing priority parking, insurance, gas, and hybrid vehicles. The beginning of this semester made SF State the 30th college or university to offer such a partnership with the company Zipcar, and is the first on the West Coast to have the program on campus.

SF State's Marine Research Center Receives Generous Donation
Since 2003, faculty, staff and students at SF State’s Romberg Tiburon Center have been dealing with renovations. Now, with the help of a $445,000 grant from the Richard and Rhoda Goldman Fund, the center, which is the only academic research establishment for wetlands and the ocean in the Bay Area, plans to complete renovations, leaving a state-of-the-art educational facility.

California Calligraphy Summit showcases ancient art form with modern twist
SF State’s Fine Arts Gallery is bringing the past to the present by using the ancient art of calligraphy to express cultural and political viewpoints.
The California Calligraphy Summit will showcase the work of 12 different artists from different ethnic backgrounds, which are reflected in their works, who either grew up or live in the Bay Area, one of whom is an SF State alumnus. The exhibition, which opens on Sept. 23 and runs until Oct. 10, 2006, focuses on the diversity of current world issues.
