SF State Music Program Hosts Free Show at Slim’s
Students of the SF State’s College of Extended Learning’s Music and Recording Industry (MRI) program are putting on a music show at Slim’s. The event is scheduled for Monday, April 17 at 8:00 p.m. and features Mouth to Mouth, Humboldt Squid and Karate High School. The MRI program offers courses surveying fields such as publicity, artist management, and audio production.

Student-Run Gospel Choir Flourishes
SF State’s gospel choir started out with only seven members, no sheet music, no band, and no real place to rehearse. They would sing a cappella in different classrooms and sometimes hallways. Now, two years later, the gospel choir is a student-run group that is offered as a one-unit music course (jazz combo 338).

Bringing out an array of activists, a crowd of 25,000 gathered for a march to oppose the Iraq War. The demonstration began with a rally at Civic Center and proceeded along the Tenderloin, South of Market and back to Civic Center, on March 18, 2006. The event was of many, throughout U.S. cities and the world, symbolizing the third anniversary of the Iraq war.
