Busting Vega$
The phrase “Whatever happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” has been ingrained in our heads and usually eludes more to sex then gambling. Nonetheless, Ben Mezrich, author of “Busting Vegas: The MIT Whiz Kid Who Brought the Casinos To Their Knees,” lays the card players’ adventure out on the green felt of the blackjack tables.

On the open plains of Greece, wedged between two tributaries, the sweet smell of fennel fills the air. Wild flowers dot the landscape as pine trees climb into the mountains framing the blue sky. An estimated 6,400 Persian corpses lay dead on the battlefield to the mere 192 Athenians slain.

Uptight with technology
When it comes to technology people today seem to have it made. Nowadays an entire library’s worth of information can be available as close as your cell phone. The modern mindset is that without the internet, a cell phone, or television life is unlivable. But not everyone is clamoring to get the latest gadgets. Luddites need new technology like a vegan needs a porterhouse. By boycotting the high-tech these folks give new meaning to ‘keeping it real.’

Maybe Microsoft has been collaborating with MTV to “pimp my Xbox,” because the newly released Xbox 360 has definitely been “tricked out.” The Xbox 360 literally has a little something for everyone. Video games that cater mostly to children and teens are like ancient history. The new Xbox 360 has a preinstalled media center that allows the user to gain access to digital music, live TV, photo albums, and movies on demand. The audio is crisp and clear, and the graphics will almost make you feel like you’re watching real TV.

Donning short pleated skirts and the slogan “No on Prop 73” slapped across their chests, Poketta Wawona Chinook and Sarah Longstocking are not just dressed up as cheerleaders for Halloween. It may seem odd because there isn't a fake smile plastered on their faces as they shake handmade pom-poms made of shredded pieces of fabric and take pyramid formation in the middle of San Francisco State University’s Malcom X Plaza.

Warriors, come out and play-ee-ay! Rockstar Games, developers of the infamous Grand Theft Auto series, deliver another crimp in politicians’ undergarments with "The Warriors," paying homage to the 1979 cult-classic gangster flick of the same name.
